Previous relationships between Anne Heche and Ellen DeGeneres are described.

Anne Heche and Ellen DeGeneres are now regarded as one of the first lesbian power couples in

Hollywood, despite the fact that they were not warmly received upon their debut.

Heche discussed her once-controversial relationship in the year 2020 while she was still fighting for her life following a fiery car accident that left her in "critical condition" last week.

The "Six Days, Seven Nights" actress revealed on Season 29 of "Dancing With the Stars" that meeting the 64-year-old comedian at a Vanity Fair party in 1997 had "forever" altered her life.

When it came time for the couple to make their red carpet debut at the 1997 premiere of Heche's film "Volcano," she was allegedly told that if she made the affair public, her job would be in jeopardy.

The actress asserted, "I told them I would be bringing Ellen as my date, and I was warned that if I did, I would lose my Fox contract." I responded, "No thanks," as she grabbed my hand and instructed me to "do as they say."

Heche claimed that she and DeGeneres attended the event against the wishes of their respective film studios, but were "ushered out by security before the film had even concluded." According to reports, the actress was told she could not attend her "own after-party out of concern that they would take photographs of me with a woman."

Despite the incident, the women continued dating, and their relationship lasted for three and a half years. Although they were close, the actor from "Finding Dory" and the actress from "Vanished" did not always have a peaceful relationship.

Heche suggested that DeGeneres attempted to dictate how she dressed during their April 2021 relationship.

Heche shared a photo of herself and DeGeneres from the 1998 Golden Globes in a recent TikTok video in which she reviewed her red carpet ensembles from the years.

Why do I look like a hippie? Ellen advised me not to wear anything revealing "She commented on the outfit.

Her relationship with DeGeneres influenced Heche in more ways than her appearance.

The "Save Me" actress reportedly told Page Six in October 2021 that she had not appeared in a studio film for ten years. I was terminated from a $10 million film contract and never appeared in a studio film.

Heche declared, "I have no regrets about dating Ellen DeGeneres because the consequences that occurred have contributed to the change. I participate in it. An honourable badge, indeed.

Heche and DeGeneres officially ended their relationship in August of 2000. They said in a joint statement to People at the time, "We greatly value the three and a half years we have spent together, and we are parting amicably."

A year later, DeGeneres expressed surprise to the Los Angeles Times about the breakup.

The former host of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" stated, "She left and I haven't spoken to her since; I have no answers."

From 2001 to 2009, Heche was married to Coleman Laffoon, with whom she had a son named Homer who is now 20 years old. In addition to having a 13-year-old son named Atlas with her ex-"Men in Trees" co-star James Tupper, whom she dated until 2018, she also has a 13-year-old daughter named Ava.

DeGeneres has been married to actress Portia de Rossi since 2008.
