TIGER WOODS USE WHAT KIND OF PUTTER?

After changing putters a few times throughout the years, Tiger generally returns to the same model - a Scotty Cameron GSS Newport 2.
His prior Newport 2 GSS putter, with which he won all but one of his 15 Majors, is one of the most renowned putters in the world; an old backup he had created by Scotty Cameron in 2001 sold at auction for $44,000.
The putter has a blade, Anser-style design with a red dot and 'Tiger Woods' branded on the back.

We have not been able to assess the putter due to its difficulty in obtaining, but we have been major supporters of Scotty Cameron for a long time due to the mix of feel, appearance, and overall performance.
Despite sometimes placing other models in the suitcase, Tiger obviously feels the same way.
He's used Ping, Odyssey, and TaylorMade models in the past, including the Ardmore 3 and Juno.
Other putters used by Scotty Cameron include the Newport TeI3, the Newport with a Pro Platinum finish, and the controversial Scottydale, which featured a lengthy neck that many believed violated the regulation that the putter's neck must exceed 5 inches.
However, this was only mentioned briefly.

[caption id="attachment_24206" align="aligncenter" width="749"]Tiger Woods has used every single putter in his golf career.
Tiger Woods' golf equipment is the most scrutinised and scrutinised in the sport.
It's big news whenever Woods makes a change, particularly with the putter.

As a result, most golf fans are familiar with Scotty Cameron's 1997 Masters-winning Newport TeI3 putter.
They're also aware of Woods' Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS prototype, which he presently possesses in his bag and has used in 14 of his 15 major championships.

However, they aren't the only two putters Woods has used in his career.
Other Scotty Cameron versions, as well as Ping, Odyssey, Nike, and TaylorMade putters, have been used by him.
He's also experimented with numerous mallet alternatives and hosels, not simply the Newport/Anser-style types that golfers are familiar with.

We've included all of the putters that Woods has used in competition during his career below.

Stainless Steel Ping Anser 2 (1994 and 1995 U.S. Amateur)

Woods utilised a Ping putter for the majority of his amateur career as a junior and college golfer.
Woods wore a bronze Ping Anser type when he was younger, circa 1990 and 1991.
He then worn a silver Ping Anser 2 Stainless Steel model with the Pingman on the toe section of the face and "Ping" imprinted on the heel of the face until about 1996.
He won the US Amateur Championships in 1994 and 1995 with this Ping Anser 2 model.

On 1998, Woods reintroduced the Ping Anser 2 model, but we'll get to it later in the list.

An Odyssey for the NCAA Championship in 1996

Woods utilised an Odyssey Dual Force 660 putter to win the 1996 NCAA Division I Men's Individual Championships.
It featured a cord-style Golf Pride grip, an Anser-style head shape, and a black insert on the face.
The putter certainly had a softer feel off the face than his prior putter, thanks to the face insert.
However, by the time he competed in the US Amateur later that year, the putter had been removed from his bag.

Scotty Cameron Newport in Pro Platinum (1996 U.S. Amateur)

Woods began using a new Scotty Cameron Newport putter with a Pro Platinum finish and no face insert sometime after his 1996 NCAA triumph.
The putter featured a cord handle, same like the Odyssey putter he had before, and it didn't last long in his bag.
Woods, on the other hand, used the Scotty Cameron putter in his professional debut at the Greater Milwaukee Open in 1996.

Scotty, the contentious character Scottydale, Cameron

The controversial Scotty Cameron Scottydale According to the Sun Sentinel, Woods utilised a controversial Scotty Cameron Scottydale putter during his first two victories on Tour, the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational and the 1996 Disney World Oldsmobile Classic.
The neck of a putter cannot exceed 5 inches in length, according to golf regulations, and authorities were suspicious that Woods' putter infringed this restriction.
Woods, on the other hand, seems to have switched to a slightly different model before the Tour Championship, when the putter was tested and found to be in compliance.

In any case, the rules of golf provide that if a player uses nonconforming equipment unintentionally, he or she is not liable to a retroactive penalty.

Woods had switched to a putter with a neck that measured less than five inches by 1997, and the conforming Scottydale reappeared only briefly later that year.

The well-known Scotty Cameron Newport TeI3

Woods utilised a Scotty Cameron Newport TeI3 putter with a Teryllium face insert and five rows of sound-dampening white dots in the rear cavity to win the 1997 Masters.
The putter didn't remain in his bag for long, but it drew a lot of attention, including that of a teenage Webb Simpson.

Putter replicas, limited-edition releases, and remakes are still quite popular today.
Brooks Koepka, for example, is presently utilising a Scotty Cameron T22 Teryllium putter that is modelled after Woods' original.

Going with the flow

Going with the flow

Woods utilised a Scotty Cameron putter with a flow neck for a limited period of time, which Titleist verified was a Laguna model.
The Laguna was in Woods' bag for the 1997 Buick Open at Warwick Hills Country Club in Michigan, but it seems that it never returned to the starting 14-club roster after that.

Returning to the Anser

Woods returned to a Ping Anser 2 putter in 1998, which had been one of Mark O'Meara's backup putters.
Woods came within a whisker of defeating O'Meara in the 1998 Open Championship, but O'Meara prevailed.

"That's my backup putter," O'Meara famously joked after the tournament.
I was the first to complete, and he was one shot behind me.
It's the backup for a reason."

Classic.
THE Scotty Cameron

THE SCOTTY CAMPBELL

Woods began using the Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS (German Stainless Steel) prototype putter in 1999, and he continues to do so today.
It's perhaps the most renowned putter in golf, and if it had ever been auctioned, it would have fetched at least $8 million.

It's known for having a "cherry bomb" red dot on the heel area of the face, "Tiger Woods" inscribed in red on the rear bumpers, a single red dot on the topline for alignment, and a Ping PP58 grip.
He's worn a place on the putter's face right in the sweet spot after two decades of use.

Woods has won 14 of his 15 major championships with the putter, which he kept in his bag from 1999 until 2010, before reappearing in recent years.

The age of the Nike Method has begun.

Woods started using Nike Method putters in 2010 and 2011.
During this period, he alternated between using a 001, a traditional Anser/Newport-style putter, and a 003, a mid-mallet putter.
The last choice, of course, was stunning since Woods had never used anything even like a mallet putter in competition before.

Woods won the 2010 U.S. Open using the 001 type putter, but switched to the mallet in late 2010, and finished T4 at the 2011 Masters with the 003 mallet.

Although he did not compete in the 2011 U.S. Open or Open Championship, he did utilise the 001 putter in the 2011 PGA Championship.
Woods used the Nike Method 001 putter from 2012 until Nike quit the hard goods sector in 2016.
Woods never won a major during the six-year era in which he used Nike putters, which includes his five-win 2013 season.

Ardmore 3 mallet by TaylorMade

2018 was a year of putter experimentation for Woods.
He started the year with his famed Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS proto putter, but as the season progressed, he began to experiment with alternative putters.

Woods has committed to a mallet putter by the 2018 PGA Championship, a TaylorMade TP Ardmore 3 with a black copper finish and a flow neck.
The switch was also on the verge of working.
With a Sunday 64, he came within two strokes of winning the tournament, coming second to Brooks Koepka.

In 2018, he used the Ardmore 3 for five tournaments before switching to a more familiar type head.

TaylorMade's Juno

Woods used a TaylorMade TP Black Copper Juno putter for a while, which has the same type head as his Newport 2.
During the 2018 Dell Technologies Championship, he finished T24 with the flat stick.

The Juno, on the other hand, had been demoted by the time he teed it up at the 2018 Tour Championship.

Using his renowned Newport 2 GSS prototype, Woods went on to win the Tour Championship and then the 2019 Masters.
The popular putter is still in the bag, and unless anything goes wrong with it (knock on wood) or he has a bad greens slump, it's likely the putter will be the starter for the foreseeable future
